Whether I’m preparing a Tuesday family dinner, a drop-off office lunch, an extravagant holiday spread for VIP guests, an informal beach party of snacks in the Hamptons, or hors d’oeuvres for a non profit’s anniversary gala, I take pride in satisfying clients with delicious foods sourced and prepared with the utmost care and love. In providing this service, my mission is to exceed expectations and give clients an experience that allows them to relax and enjoy the food with family and friends. At any given meal, the guests, the conversation, and the food are the stars and my job is to elevate tastes.
I’ve been working as a chef in the upper echelon households of New York City since I moved here in 1997 and independently as a private chef for high net worth clients since 1999. My clientele has included discerning individuals and families that hire me for healthy and delicious meals as well as unpretentious but respectful service. My vast experience in an array of jobs in the food service industry – since the 1980s – studying and mentoring with great cooks and chefs in kitchens from Minneapolis to Kansas City to Seattle to New York has been my thorough and ongoing education. Over three decades I’ve seen American culture evolve to recognize and value food itself, personal diets, specialized sourcing, and the process and art of cooking. And I’ve evolved with it as well, I’m always learning.
New York City offers a cornucopia of restaurants, markets, foods, flavors, and experiences and as a private chef I draw from it all and bring it home for my clientele. My cooking philosophy is to source well, season easily, stay out of the way of great flavors, present the meal beautifully, and leave the kitchen cleaner than when I arrived. I’m experienced in meeting cravings, dietary needs, and special requests including gluten-free, paleo, keto, vegetarian, vegan, low-calorie, low-carb, and dairy-free meals. Food as nourishment and food as fun is what I love bringing together.
With respect to the ongoing COVID pandemic, I am healthy and fully vaccinated. Still, I maintain strict adherence (and more) to all suggested protocols and am premeditated in all my actions – I limit my contact with others outside my household, maintain social distancing in public, wear a mask when necessary, sanitize myself and surfaces, get tested regularly, and am conscientious with regard to where and when I shop and source supplies and how I travel. I have a car that I utilize for work. I am healthy and have every intention of staying that way!
